Jill Covert
As a social worker, Jill has worked with individuals with various physical abilities and emotional challenges for over 14 years, providing support through medical changes and connecting clients to resources in the community. Jill opened Closed Lotus Yoga in 2023 in Canandaigua where she works mostly with women going through life changes like Menopause, grief and loss, struggling with anxiety, depression, insomnia and other challenges. She provides individual sessions, weekly classes, focused groups for women in Menopause, special events and retreats. She is also certified in yoga Nidra which promotes deep relaxation and has various healing benefits to body and mind. She is the mother of two daughters and applies Yoga Therapy to everyday life. From her own journey with yoga therapy, Jill realizes the transformative power of being present in the body. She sees healing from the perspective of the whole person and from a yogic perspective of eating well, making lifestyle changes, and using movement and meditation to promote healing. She knows that therapy is impacted by multiple psychosocial factors and works with clients to develop practices that make sense in their lives and in their circumstances. Yoga therapy helps people to learn ways to be present and to stay with unpleasant feelings so they can learn from them and grow.
Jill got her Masters in Social Work from the GRC Master of Social Work from SUNY Brockport and Nazareth in 2010 and her Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy certification in 2023 and her yoga teacher certification in 2003.
