Dr Linda Shanti McCabe
Registered Expressive Arts Therapist, Grief Coach
Tel: 585-415-3638
Dr Linda Shanti holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree in Non-Denominational Divinity, with a focus on using art as healing. She sees clients virtually as well as in person providing therapy, coaching, or group support. She specializes in working with women that are wanting recovery from disordered eating/body image challenges, or are learning to travel (more gracefully) with grief. Dr. Linda has worked in the mental health field since 1999, serving as a therapist in residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care with women and their families. Her doctoral research focused on re-image-ing the body using expressive arts with women recovering from bulimia, anorexia, and binge eating. She is a certified eating disorder specialist (CEDS), holds a certificate in grief counseling, is a licensed Soulcollage(R) facilitator, and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT).
She also has training in coaching, which differs from therapy in that it:
• does not assess, diagnose, or treat mental illness
• works in present time
• works with the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a solution-oriented way
• is not covered by insurance
Dr. Linda has written two books, one for pregnant and postpartum women in eating disorder recovery, and one for anyone whose person has died. Both were labors of love. She is a healer that believes you can't keep it unless you give it away (but you can't give it away unless you have it).
